Track 02 · Water treatment
Ozone: ozone oxidation
Strong oxidation for disinfection, color, odor and persistent organics. CWI builds its own ozone generators.
Equipment range: 2-2,500 g/h
How it works
Ozone is generated on site by electrical discharge in oxygen-rich gas, then dissolved through a Venturi or contact vessel. It is a strong oxidant that handles microbes, iron, manganese, color, odor and part of the persistent organics.
Ozone decays back to oxygen over time. CWI builds its own ozone generators, so capacity can be matched to the actual problem.
When to use it
- Disinfection and oxidation of supply and drinking water.
- Reducing color and COD after physico-chemical treatment.
- Advanced oxidation in combination with H₂O₂ or UV.
Common mistakes
- Calculating from generator rating without measuring the ozone actually dissolved.
- Contact time too short for the treatment goal.
- Wet feed gas reducing ozone output.
- No destruct unit on the off-gas, which is a safety hazard.
- Pipe and gasket materials that cannot withstand ozone.
- Applying COD removal figures from elsewhere without testing your own water.
